Peshawar Traffic Police Fines 3,301 Drivers: Tinted Glass and Unregistered Cars
Peshawar Traffic Police could stop you if you have flashing lights or fancy number plates, or black window tint on your vehicle. A total of 3,301 people have been fined by city Traffic Police Peshawar in city-wide action.
What Did Peshawar Traffic Police Announce?
The department issued tickets to 3,301 individuals for four violations: unregistered vehicles, black tint, flashing lights and fancy number plates, according to a police press release. Checkpoints were established in various localities of the city and the operation started according to directives of the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Dr. Zahidullah.
How Many Drivers Were Caught for Each Violation?
- Black-tinted windows: 1,601 people
- Unregistered vehicles: 1,201 people
- Fancy number plates: 296 people
- Flashing lights: 203 people
The vehicle with the tint accounted for nearly half of the fines (48% by my count) and vehicles without registration 36%.
What else did the police do?
They didn’t just issue fines. Unauthorised flashing lights, tinted window film and fancy numberplates were also pulled off cars as they were stopped. So the driver not only had to pay the fine, but also had to give up the modification as well.
What Did the CTO Say?
Dr. Zahidullah stated that traffic officials will strictly go by the law and take legal action against those found in violation without discrimination. He advised citizens to comply with the law, cooperate with the police and remind them that the law is equally enforced for all.
What Are the Fines?
The press release does not mention the amount of fines. Violation of these offences carries penalties, so check the traffic police’s department or refer to official notices for the latest penalty rates in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before taking a guess.
How can you avoid a fine?
- Keep your car registered, have registration papers.
- Remove dark tint films that break the rules, and avoid DIY window tint.
- Do not fit flashing lights, which are for authorized vehicles only.
- Use the regular vehicle registration plate, not a decorative or fancy plate.
- Do not create problems at registration or transfer due to having unpaid fines.
Conclusion
Peshawar’s crackdown highlights that you have to be registered, or face trouble. Maintain your car legality, make sure that modifications are fixed before highlighted and check any used cars papers before buying.
