Pak Suzuki overseas export has marked a historic milestone for Pakistan’s automobile industry. Suzuki has started exporting locally produced vehicles, including the Suzuki Alto and Every, to Brunei Darussalam, opening new opportunities for the country’s auto sector.
Pak Suzuki Overseas Export Expansion Beyond South Asia
Pak Suzuki has officially begun regular exporting of its locally produced Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every into Brunei. The Pak Suzuki overseas export programme represents a major step in expanding Pakistan’s automotive presence in international markets. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, officiated the regular export programme at the Pakistan Auto Show 2026, Lahore.
This follows an earlier launch event held on 27 August in Brunei’s capital city to mark Boustead Sdn Bhd’s 50th anniversary as Suzuki Motorcycle Co. Ltd.’s local distributor.
Why Does Alto’s Localisation Matter?
Additionally, the Alto is playing an important part in this export programme. With over 65% local value-added, it is Pakistan’s most popular locally manufactured passenger car. This shows meaningful local manufacturing content rather than simple assembly using imported parts.
Pak Suzuki Managing Director Hiroshi Kawamura said the exports represent Pakistan’s growing quality competitiveness in international markets. This is called localisation benefit in addition. International quality standards evaluate all local parts used in export vehicles.
Pak Suzuki Overseas Export Marks a Global Milestone
Moreover, it is a first-of-its-kind export achievement for Suzuki as a company. Suzuki is exporting kei-size cars internationally for the first time, with these compact vehicles following the same specifications used for Japanese mini-vehicles. After all, these cars have traditionally only been sold and manufactured in Japan.
Both are powered by Suzuki’s 660cc R06A engine, which is exactly the same specification as is used by the Japanese mini-vehicles. Suzuki’s current line-up in Bousted includes the Jimny, Ertiga and Fronx, and Bousted currently commands a 9.5% market share in Brunei.
Pak Suzuki Overseas Export Expands to New Markets
Additionally, Brunei is not Pak Suzuki’s first export market. The firm is currently exporting cars to the countries of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan. Brunei is reaching out to Southeast Asia for the first time, spreading its wings away from South Asia.
Last year, about 145,000 vehicles were manufactured by Pak Suzuki, with 130,000 of those sold locally. So, if Brunei can become a regular export market, the company gets a real chance to utilize the Pakistani manufacturing base in markets outside Pakistan.
Conclusion
The Pak Suzuki overseas export initiative highlights the growing capabilities of Pakistan’s automobile manufacturing sector. Suzuki vehicles produced in Pakistan and exported to Brunei represent an important achievement for the country’s auto industry. The Alto’s localisation (65%) and the overseas export of Suzuki’s kei-vehicle are both closely tied to the scheme. It demonstrates how Pakistan’s manufacturing industry is expanding its capabilities and reaching new international markets.
