Geely Pakistan Launch featuring Volvo-backed electric and hybrid cars

Geely Pakistan Launch: The Global Auto Giant Behind Volvo Arrives

The Geely Pakistan launch marks a major change for the country’s auto industry as the global automotive giant behind Volvo and several premium brands officially enters the market. The Chinese automaker is preparing to introduce new electric and hybrid vehicles for Pakistani buyers.

Geely Pakistan Launch: The Deal Explained

Geely Auto Group has named Bestway Group as its official distributor in Pakistan through its subsidiary Bestway Automotive Private Limited (BAL). The partnership was formally announced at Geely’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China, while BAL introduced the collaboration to local media on 15th September.

Initially, Bestway Automotive will import the vehicles as CBU units and later assemble them locally. Bestway Automotive is already the owner of the vehicle assembly plant at Port Qasim, Karachi that belongs to Al-Haj Automotive. It covers almost 25 acres and has more than 403,000 square feet of covered manufacturing floor area, with potential to assemble 25,000 vehicles a year.

Why Geely Pakistan Launch Matters for the Auto Market

Geely is not a typical Chinese carmaker. The company owns or holds strategic stakes in several global brands. These include Volvo, Lotus, Aston Martin, Smart, Zeekr, LEVC, and Lynk & Co. In 2025, Geely sold over 3.02 million vehicles worldwide, encompassing 1.69 million new energy vehicles, through 88 countries.

This is also of practical significance. Technology from Geely’s premium brands often reaches other vehicles in its portfolio. Innovations developed for Volvo can eventually appear in more affordable Geely models; a better-equipped (and higher-powered) but more economical Geely badge may well emerge.

The Models Who Will Head to Pakistan

For the Pakistan squad, three make their way into confirmation. For example, the all-electric Geely EX5 is an upscale model designed for modern EV buyers. EX2 ranked as China’s third-best-selling electric hatchback in 2025, following the Tesla Model Y. Starray EM-i achieved a Guinness World Record after an independent test recorded the lowest fuel consumption for a PHEV SUV over 1,056km.

Why the Geely Pakistan Launch Has an Early Advantage

Additionally, Geely will enter the country with the existing dealership, service, and assembly network of Al-Haj Automotive. This takes years to develop, especially for new brands that are entering Pakistan. Geely largely bypasses it.

What This Means for the Buyer?

Bestway Automotive plans to open vehicle bookings before the end of 2026, with pricing and specification to come closer to release.

Conclusion

With the existing Bestway infrastructure and the global branding wings from Volvo to Zeker, Geely’s arrival was one of the more notable moves made by the automotive industry in Pakistan recently. This release will be the one to keep an eye out for as three are confirmed, and bookings have begun before year-end.
